Don't Count Kyle Busch Out Of Sprint Cup Chase Yet!
Posted by: | CommentsBy: Keith Bloemendaal
Kyle Busch finished 34th at New Hampshire last week due to a bad setup on his M&M's Joe Gibbs Toyota Camry, dropping his points lead to a deficit of 74 points and an 8th place ranking.
This trial of patience and maturity will test the younger Busch brother, as he fights to regain the points lead he had worked so hard to keep all season.
We cannot count him out yet. As much as I personally would like to count him out of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase, he has proved us all wrong this season, as he dominated in veteran like fashion.
Most of us have predicted the immaturity would reign supreme when the going got tough for Kyle Busch. Amazingly, this kid keeps getting back on his horse when he get bucked off.
Maybe it's time to give him credit for running one of the best seasons we have been able to witness in years. I know, to those of you who just simply hate him, well, because he is sometimes out of control, mouthy, will do anything to win attitude (sounds like the way some of the greats used to be criticized) it will be difficult to give the young Busch any credit.
A look at the rest of the Chase says we can't count him out yet. Kyle won at Dover, Talladega, and Atlanta earlier this year, and finished 3rd at Charlotte and Texas.
Looking at the year he has had, it would be tough to count him out. We can surely hope though!

Dale Earnhardt Jr Upset About Tires, More Security Needed:
Posted by: | CommentsBy: Keith Bloemendaal
Dale Jr lead 79 Laps at Louden, New Hampshire during the 1st Race in the chase for the Sprint Cup on Sunday. It wasn't enough to get his National Guard/Amp Energy Chevy to Victory Lane. The Culprit: Tires.
Earnhardt was heard on the radio demanding more security for the tires. Saying he needed to "find a series that runs half distance races".
We have witnessed this phenomenon of Jr leading a good amount of laps, then just loosing the handle on the Hendrick owned Chevy towards the end. Usually falling back out of contention.
One such incident actually caused Kyle Busch to run into him during the Richmond race, and the tires couldn't hold up to keep Dale from spinning out!
Rick Hendrick came over the radio to try and calm the situation, and now the rest of the media are saying Jr had a hissy fit. Yes, I did join the chastising of Tony Stewart last week for his comments over the radio. The difference here, I believe, is that Dale Earhardt Jr praised his team for speedy pit stops and making passes in the pits. Obviously, the two incidents are completely different.
I think Dale Jr has a point, and should address the problem with why this phenomenon happens late in the race for the National Guard/Amp Energy Hendrick Motorsports team.
It is well known to most fans that Jr can get testy on the radio, as many drivers do. He simply blamed the tires, in his own way. Maybe some bodyguards are needed in the garage area, maybe Kyle Busch is paying someone to sabotage Dale's tires! Maybe not.
Either way, action is needed to figure out the problem, and getting to victory lane during this chase (maybe multiple times) will be necessary for any driver wishing to have a chance for the Sprint Cup Championship.
Greg Biffle Wins 2008 Sprint Cup!
Posted by: | CommentsBy: Keith Bloemendaal
Okay, Biffle didn't win the Cup. He did win the 1st race in the Chase for the Cup. He came out of nowhere. Who is picking Greg Biffle to win the Cup?
I would be willing to bet that unless you are a Biffle or Rousch fan, you didn't even know he was in the Chase.
Greg Biffle was sandbagging in the #16 Rousch/Fenway Ford. Late in the race, He passed Jimmie Johnson, and what looked to be effortlessly, won the race at Louden, New Hampshire. Biffle is smart, and I would bet he was sandbagging for the finish, conserving tires and fuel.
I say he was sandbagging, because it appeared to everyone that the Lowes #48 Hendrick owned Jimmie Johnson car was going to pull a 3 in a row win. I discussed my thoughts on Jimmie Johnson winning his third Sprint Cup Championship in a row last week. While Johnson didn't win, he still looks strong, poised to become part of NASCAR history.
As it stands now, we can't count any of the drivers out, not even Greg Biffle.

Earnhardt Jr and Busch Mix It Up – Busch Loses Battle
Posted by: | CommentsBy: Keith Bloemendaal

When Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. got together on May 3rd, 2008 in Richmond on a Saturday night, I had a feeling that the incident was not to be forgotten. It was difficult to place blame if you watched the replay over and over (I did since I have a DVR), but simply put, Kyle Busch is wreckless, and drove into the corner to hard. Then as I watched the Kyle Busch / Dale Earnhardt Jr. wreck in slow motion, Kyle Busch was turning right! That's right, Kyle Busch was turning right up into Dale Jr! I could not tell if Kyle got loose and was correcting that, or if he was being his typical wreck anybody to get a win self that he is. If I had to guess, it would be the latter.
At the conclusion of the race, Dale Jr. gave his opinion of the younger, immature Kyle Busch and responded in a classy way. I often wonder if he is really the son of the great Dale Earnhardt Sr. because Dale Sr would said it like it was, the wreck was no accident. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a classier act than his late father The Intimidator was. Dale Sr. was one of the best to ever race the NASCAR series, and I was in the Infield at Daytona when he passed. But, Dale Jr. outranks his father in class.
Fast forward to September 7th, 2008 and the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway. I had it in the back of my mind, could there be any payback from Dale Jr. if Kyle Busch got close enough? No way, I thought, Dale Earnhardt Jr is too classy for that. It would be like stooping to Kyle's level of being a wreckless, immature, crybaby driver.
Was I wrong? Dale Jr and Kyle Busch get together on the track, the result is Kyle Busch getting spun out and Dale Jr passing him by. The crowd went CRAZY! They were cheering Dale Jr for knocking NASCAR's biggest baby out of the race.
Upon further review with my remote and my trusty DVR, it was obvious that Dale Earnhardt Jr was smoking the front tires trying to avoid Kyle Busch as Busch came down into Jr. Of course, there were others in the room with me who had a different opinion of what happened.
I will stick to my assessment of the accident, and call it that, an accident.
What do you think? Was it Dale Jr payback, or another case of Kyle Busch being wreckless? Leave a comment to let us know your opinion.

NASCAR's Jeff Gordon Spins The Fastest Lap For The Dover Race
Posted by: Driver | Comments (0)By Keith Bloemendaal
Earlier this year, Gordon started 7th at the Monster and finished 5th. Over the last 2 years he has finished in the top 12 at Dover for every race. Over Jeff Gordon's career, he has 4 wins, and 14 top 5's at the Monster Mile.
Coming into this race Jeff Gordon is 11th in Chase points, 99 points behind leaders Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson. Interesting facts to ponder:

In June of this year, Kyle Busch won the Best Buy 400 with Carl Edwards and who else but, GREG BIFFLE running 3rd! Make sure you watch this race, I am sure there will be some action, points position changes, and who knows, maybe Kyle Busch will end up in the wall or put someone in the wall!
